Motorola Moto X+1 and Moto G2 Expected to Launch in a Few Days

According to recent reports, Motorola will release its Moto X+1 and Moto G2 on September 4 at a pre-IFA event in Berlin.

If recent reports are accurate, Motorola will launch two of its most anticipated smartphones in the first week of September. According to the International Business Times, the Moto X+1 and Moto G2 will possibly be launched on September 4 at an event leading up to the IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin, Germany.

This possible launch date comes almost exactly one year after Motorola debuted its flagship Moto X smartphone on August 23, 2013. The Moto X+1 and Moto G2 will be the next-generation updates to the Moto X and Moto G, respectively.

Specs and Expectations

Following the success of the Moto X and Moto G, expectations are high for their successors.

The Moto X+1 is expected to bring improvements to the X’s camera performance and display by including optical zoom and 3D display—which could be a curved display, GSMArena notes. NDTV reports that the X+1 will run Android 4.4.4 KitKat and have a 2.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, two GB of RAM, and 16 GB of built-in storage.

According to BGR, postings by prominent Motorola leaker HellomotoHK indicate that the Moto G2 will come with a 720p resolution, five-inch display, dual SIM support, SD card space, an interchangeable back cover, and an eight-megapixel camera—a step up from the Moto G’s five-megapixel camera.

More to Come from Motorola

While the Moto X+1 and Moto G2 represent two of Motorola’s most anticipated releases of 2014, there are rumors that up to six other new Motorola phones will be launched before this year’s end. These phones include the next generation for Motorola’s Droid, Droid Maxx, Droid Turbo, Mto X Play, Moto S, and the much-talked-about Google Nexus 6 (also know as “Shamu”), according to the International Business Times.

These would be the first major set of devices released by Motorola since the company transferred ownership from Google to Lenovo in January 2014.

Do you think the X+1 and G2 will be worthy successors to their predecessors?
