Samsung Cross Ballpoint C Pen Announced: Stylus and Pen in One

Samsung is taking handwriting and stylus functionality seriously, and the new Cross Ballpoint C Pen 2-in-1 ballpoint pen and stylus is proof.

Samsung is taking handwriting and stylus functionality seriously. The company just announced the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge phablet-style smartphones this week at IFA 2014, and each features its own embedded stylus. Now the company is taking that commitment and applying it to a more familiar writing implement: The EJ-PG900C Cross Ballpoint C Pen is the company’s own ballpoint pen, which also doubles as a stylus for smartphones and tablets. Most notably, it holds a more stylish flair than typical stylus options.

Function with Style

SamMobile elaborates, “The pen has been created in association with Cross, which is well known for its writing instruments. With a slim and modern design topped off with a chrome finish the C Pen provides function with style.”

Using a pen for both conventional and digital handwriting could take some getting used to. Yet Samsung has designed the C Pen for simple and intuitive use. One end is used for writing on stationary with the ballpoint tip, or users can simply flip the device to use the capacitive tip at the top end as a writing stylus on a smartphone or tablet.

The Galaxy Note 3 cemented the company’s stance on stylus input recognition with a bevy of supported apps and handwriting features, and the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge will build on that foundation even further, according to Tech Times. However, if the embedded stylus options from either device do not satisfy the user’s personal writing style, then the Samsung Cross Ballpoint C Pen offers an alternative that can attach snuggly to the user’s shirt pocket for easy access, much like a traditional ballpoint pen.

Samsung has already kicked off the IFA 2014 preshow with several impressive reveals, from smartphones to “Smart Home,” and we still expect to see more on the new Cross Ballpoint C Pen before the show comes to a close on September 10.
