Samsung fans rejoice! Anxiously awaiting the Galaxy Note 4 launch? According to The Korea Times, the leather-backed device will be available in South Korea on September 26, ahead of its previously planned October release. The early launch could help the company snag a few sales out from under Apple, which is enjoying strong sales for the new iPhone handsets.
Big Expectations
Pre-orders for the new Galaxy Note 4 went live on September 19. Within hours, the device was sold out in the company’s native country of South Korea. “SK Telecom, the country’s biggest carrier, managed to sell out its pre-order allotment in just nine hours, while KT and LG Uplus did the same in three days,” GSMArena reports.
Samsung is expecting to move 15 million units of the Note 4 in the first month. As the competition between Apple and Samsung heats up, Android Central speculates the depleted stock and strong pre-orders have positively motivated the company to go on the offensive, writing “The accelerated timeline is said to be a response to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus launch weekend sales.”
A Worthy Successor
Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy Note 4 earlier this month in Berlin during IFA 2014. It’s an attractive successor that builds on the most coveted features of its predecessor: the Galaxy Note 3. The device features a 5.7-inch Quad HD 1440p display, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, improved S Pen stylus functionality, and so much more.
