Apple Releases Fix for iOS 8 Update Bugs

Apple has just released iOS 8.0.2 after the previous 8.0.1 update rendered some iPhone 6 Touch IDs useless and other devices lost network connectivity.

Apple has recently released a fix the iOS 8 update bugs that arose after the previous 8.0.1 update rendered some iPhone 6 Touch IDs useless and caused others devices to lose network connectivity. The latest update not only corrected these issues from iOS 8.0.1, but it also fixed other bugs, including the one that delayed the launch of HealthKit-compatible apps.

An Apple spokesperson told The Verge that the company apologizes for the inconveniences the iOS 8.0.1 bug caused, and that the latest update includes improvements and fixes for these problems. Although several complaints have been posted online by Apple users, according to 9to5Mac, the company told CNBC that “less than 40,000 devices” were affected.

To get the update, users must navigate to Settings, then General, and then tap Software Update or check for updates in iTunes.

What iOS 8 Update Bugs Were Fixed?

In addition to fixing the bug that stood in the way of the launch of HealthKit-compatible apps, iOS 8.0.2 fixed the cellular network connectivity issues and Touch ID exclusively on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The update also addressed an issue where third-party keyboard options could be lost when a user entered their passcode, and it corrected an issue that prevented some apps from accessing photos from the Photo Library.

iOS 8.0.2 also comes with: improved reachability accuracy, better support of the “Ask To Buy” feature for Family Sharing when making in-app purchases, a fix for ringtones that occasionally did not restore from iCloud backups and increased ease uploading photos and videos from Safari. It also rectified the costly iPhone 6 problem that caused unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS or MMS messages.

What Happened to iOS 8.0.1?

After iOS 8’s first update, users immediately began reporting problems allegedly caused by the update. Mac Rumors reports that one hour after its release, Apple decided to remove iOS 8.0.1 from its Developer Center and disabled the download option for the software.

Those who had already downloaded the flawed update could reinstall the original iOS 8 through iTunes. The workaround was not perfect, as the Health app did not work after the user applied it. This problem has been fixed in the latest update.

Although Apple offered an apology and a temporary fix, the company has not yet disclosed what went wrong with the iOS 8.0.1 release. HealthKit apps are now easily accessible in the App Store, and iOS 8.0.2 seems to be free from the problems associated with the first update.
