Holiday shoppers, take note: By the end of the year, Samsung may release a new tablet that will push the boundaries of traditional size limits. According to a recent report from South Korean news site Asiae, a massive new Samsung 13-inch tablet may be in the works and could hit store shelves by the end of 2014.
LCD In, AMOLED Out
Few feature or specification details are known about the Samsung 13-inch tablet, but more information should emerge soon, especially if the company is targeting to launch the device before the end of 2014. However, SamMobile reports, “Details are still thin about this upcoming tablet from Samsung but it is being speculated that the Korean giant might use an LCD display instead of a Super AMOLED one.”
Sizing Up Trends
If anyone can convince users that larger is better, it’s Samsung. The company has developed features to make larger screens more usable, such as Multi Window and the S Pen, according to SamMobile. Samsung was also early to the table with impressive plus-size smartphones and tablets, including the 7-inch Galaxy W.
Even Apple has joined in, having recently released the gorgeous iPhone 6 Plus, which wields a 5.5-inch Retina HD display capable of 1080 pixels. On the tablet side of things, the more recent Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro is an impressive 12.2 inches. And rumors continue to swirl around Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
