Defying known convention, Lenovo has one sweet-looking “lemon.” The company has just announced the Lenovo Lemon, a new, bright yellow smartphone launching to the bustling mobile market in Asia. JD.com, an online store based in China, refers to the handset as the Lenovo Music Lemon K3, although it is listed elsewhere as the “K3 Le Lemon.”
Specifications
GSMArena reports that the device is the company’s answer to competitor Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S entry-level smartphone, while the specs may remind some of the Huawei Ascend Mate2 4G. The Lemon K3 straddles the line between mid-range and premium, with a price of CNY599, or around USD97. PC Magazine lists the general specs: “The Music Lemon K3 comes with a 5-inch IPS touchscreen, sports a 1.2 Ghz, 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor from Qualcomm, and has 1 GB of memory plus 16 GB of internal storage.” Users can expand the storage capacity with the included MicroSD slot.
Other specs include a microUSB 2.0 port, Sony-made 8 megapixel rear camera with touch-focus, LED flash, geo-tagging autofocus, face detection, and a front-facing 2 megapixel clicker. For the network side of things, customers will enjoy the function of dual-SIM slots and support for 4G LTE network connectivity speeds. Features like the smaller 2300 mAh battery speak to the mid-range segment Lenovo seems to be targeting, while its FM radio is something found on higher-end phones.
Aside from the device’s bright yellow color, GSMArena reports there is “no other apparent connection to lemons or music for that matter, besides perhaps the inclusion of Waves MaxxAudio sound tech.”
The device is currently only available from Chinese online retailer JD.com, and Lenovo has no plans to bring the device the West as of now.
