ZTE Grand X Max+ Phablet a Mid-range Offering With HD Specs

China-based company ZTE announced a bevy of sleek new tech products as CES 2015 kicked off this week, including its new mid-range ZTE Grand X Max+ phablet.

Chinese telecommunications company ZTE announced a bevy of sleek new products at CES 2015 this week. One such product that’s garnering attention is the company’s affordable new Grand X Max+ phablet-sized smartphone, which stands a full 6 inches tall.

Features and Specs

TechnoBuffalo reports, “The ZTE Grand X Max+ offers 16 GB of onboard storage, though that can be expanded with up to a 32 GB microSD card. That’s not a ton of space, but at its price point it’s not too shabby.” The device will be available for $199.99 through Cricket, which is a notable bargain when compared to other phablets on the market.

Other features and specs listed on CNET show that this is indeed a mid-range phablet. The ZTE Grand X Max+ is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor. Similar to its predecessor the X Max, the Max+ has a 1080 by 720 pixel display, though it’s been upgraded to HD. The device has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, quite a boost from the previous iteration’s 8 and 1 megapixels, respectively.

The features and perks are not all mid-range. The ZTE Grand X Max+ also sports a sizable 3,200 mAh battery. GSMArena reports that the company promises an average of 6.5 hours of talk time and 860 hours of standby time. The device ships running Android KitKat 4.4.4; as of yet it’s unclear whether a Lollipop upgrade is possible.

Would you consider the ZTE Grand X Max+ for your next affordable smartphone?
