Apple has just sent out the official iPad event invitation to press. The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and will begin at 10:00 AM Pacific Time on October 22, 2013. The invitation tag line reads “We still have a lot to cover.”
Although the invite does not mention anything about the iPad, Apple is expected to release a follow up to both the iPad mini 2 and 4th generation model. Besides the new iPads, Apple may also show off the highly anticipated Mac Pro desktop and their all new OS X Mavericks operating system.
The latest iPad rumors claim the 5th generation iPad model will have an iPad mini-esque design. This means a lighter (and, in my opinion, overall better looking) device will be announced next week. Apple’s new iPad is rumored to come in the same three colors found on new iPhone 5S – gold, white, and space gray. In terms of new features, the iPad 5 could have a 64-bit A7 processor, Touch ID and an 8MP (better) rear camera.
When it comes to the iPad Mini 2, recent rumors stater we may actually see a retina version of the pint sized tablet. The initial report came from Japan. The report also says the newly leaked iPad mini cases indicate the device will be 0.2mm wider, growing from 134.7mm to some 134.9mm. We saw this size increase happen on the iPad 3 when it too received a retina display back in 2011.
At next week’s iPad event, we will know exactly what Apple has in store for us when on the new iPads. Stay locked on to The Horn as I will provide a complete event recap of the event, featuring all the new products and specs that Apple will unveil to eager “Fan Boys” around the globe. What features would you like to see on the new iPad?
